Press Release

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for a seat on the Christina School District's Board of Education. The opportunity to run for public office arose, March 12, when former school board president, James Durr, of Nominating District E, announced his resignation.

The platform of my candidacy is based on my belief in a right to education, that students cannot learn without acknowledgement and adaptation to each child's individual learning needs, nor can they succeed without empowered teachers and competent administration.

I believe that change is top-down, it must come from the policy-makers and the opportunity to effect change begins with the school board.

It would be my greatest honor to have your vote on May 12th in the district school board election. I am currently building a web site at elizabethscheinberg.blogspot.com to provide further information for interested voters. I can also be reached via email at montagnebeau@aol.com or by calling (302)494-8076.

Thank You!

Personal Statement

It is the duty of elected school board members to create policies that govern the administration of a district. They are bound by by-laws to represent the needs of each and every student fairly and equally. However, I believe that in many cases across the nation, and in the Christina School District, the needs of students in "special populations" have been under-represented. Today's policymakers are without the insight and education that comes from the firsthand experience of loving, caring for, and celebrating individuals with special needs. As a CSD Board Member I will temper policy with insight and administration with compassion. It would be an honor to have your vote on May 12th. And please spread the word -- Scheinberg and Young (John Young) for School Board!
