Over the last two days, we have taken steps to assert our constitutional right of parental directive in education to opt our children out of Delaware's high stakes testing. We believe that we are the first to go public with our own personal journey. We crafted the following letter (and removed that information which would reveal personal information pertinent to our own children) and submitted it to the schools that we have chosen to provide our children with their education. We are parents who have a good rapport with our school leadership and do not enter this endeavor as adversaries. We do believe that battle over high-stakes testing and its impact on children and public education is one that needs to be fought by parents. For our family, it is time to say enough!
