Md. school cancels dance for 'dirty' violations

A high school in Cumberland, Md., says it's canceling a February dance to crack down on the sexy gyrations known as dirty dancing or freak dancing.
Allegany High School Principal Mike Calhoun said Wednesday that students at the autumn homecoming dance ignored appropriate behavior guidelines developed by student government.
Calhoun says the February Sweetheart Dance is off, and the spring prom is in jeopardy.
Schools across the country are struggling to control dirty dancing by canceling events or making students sign contracts prohibiting the sexy moves.

The thing with high school and dancing now is that the kids are growing up with different influence than before. Current popular music and music videos encourage "sexy" dancing. The kids I go to school with are angry with the administration, but the administration has to keep to some rules; when the weather is nice, the administration ignores some dress code violations. The kids are asking too much and are getting mad when they don't get what they want. The issue on this isn't just happening here at Allegany though, some how we are just getting all the airtime for it. As the local times-news quoted me, I would really like to go to my proms; they're times you can never get back. I'll be greatly disappointed if both of my proms are cancelled. I just hope these kids get it together and not ruin it for the rest of us.
